Descripción:The main purpose of the study is to show the current panorama of beekeeping activity in the municipality of Heroica Ciudad de Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca to analyze problems in the production chain. This qualitative research used a descriptive cross-sectional non-experimental design and applied in-depth semi-structured interviews to beekeepers in the municipality, based on the tools of the Localized Agrifood Systems approach. Results show that micro and small beekeeping companies have rudimentary production processes, a lack of packaging and administrative and accounting practices, as well as no cohesion among producers, overall aspects that hinder their development. In conclusion, actions taken have been insufficient given their lack of professionalization. Consequently, a growth approach focused on strategic planning must be implemented in each of the micro and small companies for greater competitiveness.
