Descripción:The present paper is an analysis of the construction of enunciative ethos during a last presidential speech given by the former president of Costa Rica, Óscar Arias Sanchez, in his second term on May 1st, 2010. It analyzes how he built himself as former president and what objective he pursued as one. The paper will examine four specific aspects: discursive organization, logic or reason mechanisms that defend the approach, used persuasion strategies and, finally, how he built himself, as well as what legitimation mechanisms he used to provide his approach with force.
