| Descripció: | Prevalence of bovine brucellosis in Minas Gerais has decreased in the last years due to the actions from Programa Nacional de Controle e Erradicac¸a˜o de Brucelose e Tuberculose em Animais (PNCEBT). However, more effort is necessary on toiled measures of control for better results with focus on the disease eradication. Therewith, the aim of this study was to develop a transmission model for bovine brucellosis in Minas Gerais and test the best network measures for intervention in face of an outbreak. For that, an epidemiological compartmental stochastic model was developed with data on cattle movement, number of notified cases and cattle population from October 2017 to July 2018.Additionally, after the removal of 5% of the nodes with higher in and out degrees and betweenness the model was evaluated to investigate epidemic size after removal. The model behaved properly, with 70% (12/17) of the farms appeared in at least half (500/1000) of the simulations as part of the transmission of bovine brucellosis in Minas Gerais. The model revealed 52,745 farms involved in the outbreak. The nodes removal showed betweenness as the best network measure to reduce the number of farms involved in the outbreak (32,858 farms), followed by in degree (34,802 farms) and outdegree (37,725 farms). Therefore, the developed model showed a good sensibility and the scenario of interventions based on network measures indicates the best choice for tailored measures in the bovine brucellosis spread control in Minas Gerais, Brazil. |
