Political participation: Experiences and challenges of women in the exercise of politics from the local governments of the province of Heredia, Costa Rica

Descripción:The present work seeks to share experiences and challenges of women who have held positions of popular election, specifically as municipal councilors and trustees, as titles and substitutes, in different municipalities of the Heredia province during the period 2010-2016. This article aims to present stories associated with experiences lived as a woman politician in the exercise of these positions in local governments, for which eight women from different political parties who held positions in the municipalities were interviewed. The interview addressed different aspects related to the experience from the political participation of these women, among them, difficulties, achievements, challenges and concerns both from the positions they held, and inother social spaces.
