Descripción:This article provides a brief description of some general aspects of the self-assessment processes carried out at the Escuela de Bibliotecología, Documentación e Información (EBDI) of the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, in order to obtain accreditation for the career of Librarianship and Documentation in 2005, as well as to achieve reaccreditation in 2009. A comparison is made between the two evaluation processes from the point of view of two specific sectors, employers and graduates. In addition, the opinions contributed by each of them are presented as a way of partial analysis of the social impact of educational programs in the library community, as a first input to create awareness of the importance of these studies at the institutional and national levels.
