Descripción: | This article aims at systematizing the actions, initiatives, curricular and extracurricular activities, protocols, and linkages that reinforce the importance of developing a culture of peace in the Costa Rican educational system. This as an essential and fundamental key to promote respect for human dignity. Peace is a pathway that we must consciously follow as human beings with the firm intention of minimizing violence, abuse, bullying, disrespect, exclusion, and the injustice that permeate the daily scenarios. A culture of peace is primarily a process that transforms and molds the culture of violence, always present in society. This article is a descriptive essay that includes a bibliographical revision on the topic of peace. Its main finding is that the educational scenario in all its levels (preschool, elementary, high school and university of public and private contexts) is undoubtedly the best platform to develop concrete actions that boost a culture of peace and an urgent need to prevent violence in order to protect and demand respect for a safe coexistence of all mankind. |
