Descripción:This paper presents a contextualization of the history of ska music in Costa Rica, which has a narrow link with the “third wave of ska” at a worldwide level and the development of other music genres in the decade of the 90’s in the country. During this period the participation of groups with young people from the neighborhoods from the south of San José Downtown and other parts from the Great Metropolitan Area it’s a big highlight. In a sense of discussion, the researchers show a series of annotations that try to find guidance to study of ska music in the country, from its historical context to its importance at a social level.
