Descripción:This article exposes the perception around the issues of quality of life and retirement from a group of police officers, over 60 years of age, who worked for the Ministry of Public Security in the San José area in 2019. The WHOQOL-BRIF quality of life questionnaire, designed by the World Health Organization at the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, was applied in order to know the perception of people about their quality of life in four areas: physical health, psychological, social relations and environment-social climate. While in the retirement aspect, an open interview was applied where the concept of retirement and the perception of positive and difficult aspects of retirement were discussed. As main results, it was evident that, in relation to the perception of quality of life, the domain with the greatest impact of satisfaction was that of environment/social climate, followed by that of social relations; likewise, the economic aspect was highlighted as one of the main reasons why people indicated that they did not opt to retire, along with the fear of distancing themselves from their co-workers.
