Descripción:This essay examines child labor in Costa Rica as a violation of the rights of children and adolescents. Its aim is to explore the structural factors that explain its persistence and to analyze its social implications in the national context during the period 2016-2024. Drawing on a theoretical approach centered on human rights and the structural perspective of social inequality, the essay analyzes factors such as poverty, barriers to educational access, and sociocultural practices that contribute to this problem. The methodology is based on a documentary review of academic research, institutional reports, and official statistics, selected according to criteria of relevance and currency. This analysis identifies trends such as limited progress in reducing child labor and gaps in access to and retention within the education system, as well as differences by gender and geographic area. The essay concludes that its eradication requires a comprehensive approach that brings together public policies, educational strengthening, family support, and interinstitutional actions aimed at the effective protection of the rights of minors.
