Descripción:Introduction: This report refers to the relationship among the variables gender, age and employment status, and academic performance, as well as a comparison between rural and urban populations. Reports from different authors, such as Lakhal et al. (2021), Sothan (2019) and others concluded that there is no relationship between the variables under study and academic performance. Objective: To compare age, gender and employment status traits, according to academic scores, during the third semester of 2020, in the students of the Administración de Servicios de Salud Major at UNED, Costa Rica, enrolled in the Centro Universitario (CEU) San José and the Brunca CEU’s. Materials and methods: Students completed a survey, including gender, age and employment status. These traits were compared with the region students come from, and the average score. Conclusions: There is no relationship between age, gender and place of origin of the population studied, according to their academic performance. The relationship of the employment variable is subject of study for next research, since there was found a positive relationship between employment and student performance, at CEU San José.
