Descripción:This article analyzes how demographic and productive change could affect the institutional actions of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Costa Rica in the next 10 years, mainly in terms of its capacity to anticipate the demands for qualifications and strategies in the long term. Methodologically, a projection and statistical description of the behavior of the labor and demographic market at the national level was made, and institutional documents and research on the subject were also reviewed. One of the most relevant conclusions is that the demographic variable affects TVET due to the future reduction of the labor force. However, there are no clear institutional strategies to face the productive reconversion, increase of productivity, and detection of specific needs of the young population and the labor market. Therefore, innovative actions are proposed that could improve the management of institutions in the face of the problems identified.
