| Beskrivelse: | A study of the anatomy and histology of the reproductive systems of two paca males and two females (Cuniculus paca) confirmed the presence of several characteristics common to other species of the suborder Hystricomorpha: the urethral pouch, the absence of the scrotum in the male, persistence of numerous luteum bodies and follicles in different stages of maturation in a pregnant female, presence of poliovular follicles in a prepuberal one and a membrane closing the vaginal opening in both females. It was also found that the uterus in Cuniculus is bicornual. |
