Descrição:The Plo-Pleistocene stratigraphic sequence of Brazo Seco Creek-Limón is composed by fossiliferous and non-fossiliferous sandstones, and limestones (blaflestones) constituted by coral fragments into a sandy matrix. The depositional environment was shallow marine and they belong to the Río Banano Fomtation. Overlying this sequence, are conglomerates of the Suretka Formation, genetically related to the uplifting of the Talamanca Range, and they correspond with fan delta deposits. In this paper, we include the description of the fossil content: mollusca, corals, bryozoa, arthrophoda and ichnofossils.Based on the fossils and outcrops the depositional environmet of this section of the Río Banano Formation was litoral to sub-litoral, with patch reefs, whose growth was interrupted by fast sedimentation and/or uplifting.
