Descrizione:We describe a lower pharyngeal jaw of Pogonias cromis collected from lacustrine sediment of late Pleistocene age in the Laguna Madre, Tamaulipas, Mexico. This specimen represents the first fossil record of black drum fish in the Mexican territory, which amplifies the distribution range of the species during the Pleistocene and increases the knowledge of the family Sciaenidae.
