Description:The deification process of Alexander the Great has often been divided into three phases related to three specific events: the visit to the oracle of Ammon at Siwa, the attempt to adopt the custom of proskynesis and the deification itself. However, according to the classical sources, it seems more accurate to differentiate these stages: relationship with the mythical heroes, acknowledgement as son of Zeus and overcoming of the deeds of heroes and gods. During the whole process, Alexander managed to take advantage of religion and his own divine parentage as political instruments to control the different territories that formed his empire.
