Kuvaus:This article reconstructs the social and political route that leads to the declaration of a first general amnesty after the 1948 civil war in Costa Rica. The multiple actors who spoke against and in favor of this legislation are analyzed, highlighting the role of women in particular. Concluding that the amnesty was not in any way a government concession, but the result of constant demand from various sectors of the Costa Rican society. Besides, the amnesty took more than seven years to declare because of the lack of winners`   political will to generate national conciliation policies.
