| বিবরন: | A brief study of chiropteran nocturnal activity and reproductive condition was made at San José, Costa Rica, in July and August,1961. Eighty-five specimens of nine species were collected on 10 netting nights. The catch consisted of 32 adult males and 51 adult females, and a breeding condition was found in 55.4 per cent of 83 adults. Both males and females of a species showed an active and regressed condition, and data indicate there was a lack of synchronization of cycles within populations of three species (Sturnira lilium, Glossophaga soricina and Artibeus jamaicensis). Moonlight rather than temperature or humidity was effective in reducing nocturnal activity. Sixty-four or 75.3 per cent of the bats were taken on moonless or overcast nights. |
