Descripción:Mental health is one of the areas that must be taken into account as part of the spectrum contained in a conception of health, which must be reflected in the public policies of a State, with particular importance, in a country whose strengths include a robust public health system as in Costa Rica. In response, the Ministry of Health introduced in 2012 the National Mental Health Policy, which is scheduled to end this year. This article examines the principles and approaches defined in this policy through bioethics lenses. The results include the description of the aforementioned ethical proposal and establish the importance of carrying out an analysis of similar aspects in future proposals, when using bioethical knowledge.
