Non-parametric analysis of cutting and bucking times as a function of slope and diameter for Pinus maestrensis Bisse in the Guisa Silvicultural Unit

Descripció:This research was conducted in the Silvicultural Unit of Guisa with the objective of analyzing the effect of three slope conditions (20–30%, 30–45%, and 45–50%) on the felling and bucking times of Pinus maestrensis Bisse, and their relationship with diameter, in order to propose strategies for optimizing operational efficiency. Systematic field observations were carried out in various logging areas. The statistical analysis included the Kruskal–Wallis test to evaluate differences in felling times among slopes and diameter classes, as well as Spearman’s correlation coefficient to examine the relationships between the quantitative variables of the study. The results showed that felling time increases significantly with greater slope and larger diameter. Based on these findings, a strategy was formulated to reduce felling time, which includes the implementation of efficient tools, assignment of experienced operators, technical training, logistical optimization, and incentive systems.
