Descripción:In December 2006, the undersigned presented the “Evolution of the WHO Microbiological Guides, to evaluate the water quality of water for human consumption: 1984-2004”. Given this background and with the purpose of defining the true bacteriological indicator to assess the risk of transmission of germs of water diseases, the definition of said indirect indicators is presented as a complement in the fourth edition of the “Guidelines for the Quality of Drinking Water Human, 2011” and the Quality Guides for small water supplies, published in 2024, with the purpose of defining or ratifying Escherichia coli (E.coli), in the Regulation for the Quality of Drinking Water and thus guiding, the evaluation of microbiological water quality, in conjunction with physical-chemical parameters, in water supply systems for human use and consumption in Costa Rica.
