Descrizione:This article presents the results of a study aimed at establishing the relationship between lexical mastery in the context of antonymy and general reasoning skills in items from the Academic Aptitude Test of the University of Costa Rica. To measure lexical mastery according to different populations, a pilot test was applied in May 2023 to 1,957 people from 30 high schools. A variety of quantitative analyses were used to identify trends in the performance of the individuals evaluated when solving items related to semantic antonymy. The results show that the area of residence and the high school of origin are significantly associated with the scores. It is concluded that the area of residence and the school of origin are significantly linked to scores, while the level of secondary education completed has a moderate relationship, and gender shows a slight association.
