Descripción:The present paper is based on three lists of Charrúa anthroponyms, compiled in the years 1758 and 1760 in the reduction of Nuestra Señora de Cayastá (current community of Cayastá, province of Santa Fe, Argentina), and published by Bracco (2016). The goal of the paper is to interpret linguistically as much data as possible from these anthroponyms. The methods used in this research were: comparison of the three lists, philological critic, and internal analysis of the data, comparison with other recordings of Charrúa language, and comparison with genealogically related languages. The results obtained allow us to propose several hypotheses about the poorly known language Charrúa, in regard to aspects such as sociolinguistics, morphology, and phonetics/phonology.
