| Descripción: | Supply induced demand (SId) arises when physicians have incentives to change consumer demand in order to maximize their utility. This situation is related to the lack of patients information, situation which becomes enhanced if a third part (insurance) does covers the full cost. First, we performed a literature review on the subject. The situation is further analyzed, using simple tools of games theory, the existence or not of demand induction under differentpayment systems, thus finding that some systems do not cause induction but a decreased quality of medical services |
