Description:This paper examines the growing rise of fiction podcasts in Spanish within the current context of the digital literary sphere in the Hispanic sphere. Initially, the phenomenon of podcasting is analyzed as a hybrid medium that is situated at the confluence of intermediality and the recent platforming of cultural production. Then, the recent relationship between audio drama and speculative science fiction narratives is delved into, highlighting the prevalence of themes related to dystopian futures, apocalyptic imaginaries and techno-scientific speculations. Subsequently, it offers a panoramic view of the production of podcasts within this line in Latin America and Spain. The article concludes with a proposed research agenda that seeks to establish a dialogue between comparative literature and the paradigm of intermediality, with the aim of positioning sound fiction as an object of transdisciplinary study.
