Descripción:In Colombia, the citizenship card is the document that identifies citizens and allows them to carry out legal procedures, exercise the right to vote, access public and private sector services and any process that requires demonstrating the identity of the person entitled to carry such document. In the year 1853, a fairly rudimentary identification document model appeared for the first time in the country, whose objective was to prevent the identity theft of voters, which was called: "Voter's Title". From this historical fact, the citizenship card has been transformed and has changed according to the needs of the Colombian state, in terms of the identification of its citizens. However, the document as it is known today, the yellow card with holograms, which is based on the Automated Fingerprint Identification System, came into force in 2000 and since then technological advances in identification electronics have advanced significantly. Therefore, it is important to analyze this type of identification system in countries where its implementation has been successful, so that it is possible to identify features and security elements that can be incorporated into the electronic ID system in Colombia. This document is obtained from the research carried out in the development of the degree work: "Implementation of an electronic ID system in Colombia for digital identification".
