Descripción:This special issue gathers testimonies and studies that confirm the multifaceted figure of Emilia Prieto Tugores, as well as the amalgam of creation and thought that constitutes her: painter, folklorist, composer and performer, feminist, engraver, journalist, writer, graphic humorist, teacher, activist. On the one hand, it examines her then pioneering objections to the role of women in Costa Rican society and politics through essays and engravings in the national magazine Repertorio Americano. Later, it reflects on the process that led to the publication, in the early 1990s, of 25 songs compiled by the teacher Prieto. It also includes a critical analysis of the contesting will of the folklorist's sonic research. These studies are accompanied by the edition of the songs "Por 'ónde pongo el dulce?" and "Fernando el francés", compiled by her.
