Descripción: | An exploratory fertilizing trial was conducted on nursery plants of peach palm (Bactris gasipaes Kunth), using some of the material commonly applied by the farmers in the Caribbean region of Costa Rica to promote a better development of the plants. Besides, the same plants were used to study correlations and regressions on several morphological traits. The fertilizing trial results showed that foliar fertilization is not an effective practice in peach palm nurseries, and that the organic fertilizers used did not showed a positive response, probably due to an inadequate decomposing process. The best result by far, was obtained with the use of diammonium phosphate or DAP. On the other hand, all growth parameters studied (stalk diameter and weight, length of the leaf lamina and sheath, root weight, leaf weight and number, and plant height) were highly correlated among themselves. |
