Description:This article presents the development of the self-evaluation process that is taking place at the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Costa Rica. It describes the proposal of a new type of curriculum that better fulfills the actual needs and demands of the profession. Furthermore, it addresses issues pertaining to the Scientific Knowledge System of Library Information which is composed by the disciplines of Library Science, Bibliographology, Archival and Information Science. Finally, a look at the proposal for a transdisciplinary relations model that will serve as the basis for the design of the new curriculum.
