Descripción: | In this short paper we want to present in an introductory way the study of one of the Catholic missions that reached Japan in the sixteenth century, the Franciscans, and, in particular, the mechanism they used to achieve this goal, a mechanism that generated great controversy right since that moment, especially by the Jesuits. Moreover, some have seen this strategy as one of the reasons for the failure of the Catholic mission in Japan. This article sheds some light on these issues by using Castillian primary sources. |
