תיאור:The continuous sending of Franciscans to the Spanish Indies between 1577 to 1620 was proof of their need for the consolidation of the Empire, especially in places where there was not so much presence of secular authorities. The commissioners were, at least among the Franciscans, in charge of bringing missionaries to the Indies from the various convents and houses of formation of the Metropolis in the Iberian Peninsula. The number of franciscans who arrived in the Indies practically doubled the Dominicans, their closest antagonists. In this context, an approximation of the 40 groups of Franciscans who came to the viceroyalty of Peru of the 133 groups, sent to America and Asia, will be carried out between 1577 and 1620. Some religious in these groups became bishops, chroniclers, and even saints
