| Popis: | Sustainable development in countries which are rich in biodiversity will depend on the national governments’ capacity to implement the necessary institutional arrangements to conciliate the preservation of natural resources with their use for the production of goods and services, which may promote economic growth and the well-being of the communities where they are located. This is the goal of the BioTrade Initiative promoted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in different Latin-American countries. As far as the goals of the BioTrade Initiative are consistent with the principles established in the Convention on Biodiversity, we could hope that this Initiative will open new doors for a regulated and more sustainable use of natural resources. |
