Descripción: | Production of edible mushrooms using agroindustrial waste as substrate is an example of a process that degrades organic matter through enzymatic action to form useful products for human consumption. Pleurotus pulmonarius culture was studied to evaluate the performance of two agro-industrial wastes. The substrates were corncob and corn husk, which underwent treatment, sterilization, inoculation and incubation under controlled conditions. The mycelium growth time for the cob was 36 days, whereas for the husk was 44 days; there was no significant difference in the biological efficiency, yield and protein content for both substrates. Microbiological analysis showed that the product has a quality suitable for human consumption. From the above results it was concluded that organic wastes corncob and corn husk are suitable for growth, colonization, formation of mycelium and fruiting bodies of P. pulmonarius. |
