Description:  This study aims to analyze the scientific production on gamification in initial teacher education (ITE) during the period 2015-2023 in order to contribute to the understanding of the current state of research on gamification in ITE, identify trends and gaps in research in this area. The method consists of a thematic collection and analysis of a total of 83 scientific articles out of 479 published in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. The selection was made according to the PRISMA model. As results, from the bibliometric analysis we obtained data on the characteristics of the publications on the subject treated and in the thematic analysis, four relevant categories of study were observed. It is concluded that, worldwide scientific production on gamification in IDF is scarce and it is suggested to continue researching on gamification as a transformative tool in the training of future teachers and in education in general, due to its potential to significantly improve the quality and effectiveness of school education.
