Descripción:The objective was to characterize the working women in the Rodrigo Facio Campus of the University of Costa Rica. A questionnaire composed of two parts was sent via the web to the entire population. The first part had general data and the other, the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire -Short Form, which defined the presence and characteristics of urinary incontinence. A total of 464 women answered, with ages from 20-61 years old, with clinical history of dyslipidemia and hypertension. About 50 % were nulliparous pregnancies and those with pregnancies had vaginal delivery. With the second part, a higher percentage of people have had involuntary leakage of urine. For these, the frequency was middle average with a very low to moderate amount of lost, while the level of involvement in life is low to intermediate, according to the questionnaire scale. The situations in which the loss was presented are coughing or sneezing, which are characteristics symptoms of the stress incontinence. We concluded that incontinence is conceived as a condition inherent to women of any age, especially in early adulthood or old age. In women with vaginal deliveries, the probability of developing incontinence is greater, but not determinant.
