Two decades after the Convention of Belem do Pará: A characterization of psychological research on violence against women carried out at the University of Costa Rica, period 1994- 2016

Descripción:This article presents a characterization of the psychology research that’s been carried out at Universidad de Costa Rica, regarding violence against women, during the period of time between 1994 and 2016. The aim of the study was to show how research in violence against women had been developed during the following two decades after the endorsement of the Inter-American Convention on the Prevention, Punishment and Eradication of Violence Against Women.The analysis performed in this investigation allowed further awareness of the main challenges regarding the future knowledge production in psychology in relation to violence against women in the country. From this investigation, it is expected to generate new inputs for new lines of research in violence against women in Costa Rica.Key Words: violence against women, research, psychology, state-of-the-art.
