Descripción:Objective: To analyze the socio-demographic youth ninth grade from a public school in the Canton Central de Alajuela, Costa Rica, to determine how these conditions influence and attitudes on the behavior of human sexuality. Method: Data collection was done by means of a questionnaire, previously validated adolescent students from ninth grade public school. We selected a simple random sample of 33 students from a total of 181 students active as of November 2011. Quantitative data analysis was performed using SPSS 20.0 and Excel 2010. Results: confirmed that young people prefer their close relatives as the main source for clarification on the issue of sexuality. Furthermore, it was confirmed that with an average age of 15.5 years, 24% of teenagers have started sex intercourse. Most of these kids use as birth control pills. Conclusions: Young people are eager to answer your questions on the subject. Even if they continue to opt for their parents as the primary means of making inquiries, television and friends in the street represent important options in terms of time they spend as a hobby. Moreover, as early initiation of sexual intimacy is associated to high rates of adolescent pregnancy in Latin America. As adults, parents and teachers, we have a huge commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for our youth.
