Descripción:This article seeks to contribute to academic, intellectual and political reflection on capitalism in Central America through an historical analysis of its operation and transformation. In addition, it intends to contribute to debate on the link that exists between economic models and types of capitalism in the Central American case. It is concluded that in the last 150 years there have been two types of capitalism in the region, which have assumed different variants depending on the particularities of each country; and that the link between the economic model and the type of capitalism is mediated by the nature and form of state intervention.
