| Omschrijving: | This paper examines the liminal dimensions of drag practices in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which have gained increased prominence since the second decade of the 21st century. Employing the theoretical and methodological framework of theater philosophy, the study is structured into three main sections. First, it analyzes the function and significance of Trabestia Drag Club and Carrera de Reyes, two key spaces within the city's drag scene, situating them within the broader festive environments in which they emerged. Second, it explores the concept of secondary liminality to investigate the factors that have historically relegated these spaces to the margins of academic inquiry until recent years, while also considering their connections to extra-theatrical domains. This section further interrogates the scope of “performance” as an analytical category for understanding these drag manifestations. Finally, the paper delves into primary liminality to examine the identity dimensions inherent in drag practices, advancing the concept of persona drag and exploring the temporal superimpositions that these performances generated. |
