| Description: | This work aims to contribute to critical reflection on the relationship between contemporary art and Latin American social movements. From this perspective, it will try to contribute to the understanding of the processes of social conflict registered from 2019 and to analyze future scenarios and possible challenges, both for democracies and for the artistic field in Latin America, also considering the uncertainty that the emergence of the COVID-19 has generated in our region and in the world. In this sense, a possible characterization of contemporary Latin American art will be investigated theoretically, taking into account its main manifestations: interventions, events, performances, and the role, both in the dissemination and in the registry that the digital media and the internet propose. It will also focus on the power and validity of the historical alliance between art and politics to understand these complex conjunctural phenomena, which are social, economic, political, and also artistic. |
