Records appraisal in Colombia: a methodological proposal based on functional analysis and institutional approach

| 實物特徵: | This article presents the results of the research entitled “Towards a reconfiguration of the records’ appraisal process in Colombia, based on theoretical currents and archival regulations (1960-2020)”, which shows a proposal for improving the process in response to the current context of production and use of archival documents in the nation. The investigation focused on proposing an alternative to the current methodology for records’ appraisal, based on the integration of elements from different contemporary archival theoretical approaches and the appraisal practices developed in the country. The methodological proposal is structured in two phases. The first suggests a functional analysis by sectors, where key functions and activities for the preservation of documentary heritage are identified and prioritized. The second phase focuses on records’ appraisal at the institutional level, proposing the creation of a single archival instrument, the records’ appraisal tables, which reflect a comprehensive understanding of the functions of the entities and their documents. Finally, it is concluded that records’ appraisal in Colombia requires adjustments to match contemporary realities, including the involvement of citizens as users of archival information and active participants in the construction of documentary heritage, reflecting in a better way the social and cultural memory of the country. |
