Descripción:This article aims to analyze the state of the research on videogames fromseveral systematic reviews of literature and meta-analysis, made mostly inSpain and Latin America. Among the results, it was found the main fieldsof study from which it has tried to understand the advantages and disadvantagesof video games namely: health, education and violence. It also showsthat there is a failure of rigor, according to the authors, in research relatedto the fields of education and violence, characterized mainly by theoretical, methodological deficiencies, as well as value judgments and stereotypes thatproduce an impossibility to compare or validating its results among papers. This article concludes that in addition to correcting these shortcomings, isnecesary a deep research of the reflection on the concept, the characteristicsor the properties of the videogame, as well as the others as the ideological-political courses from which they are produced.
