Descripción:The Republic of Costa Rica currently has two preferential trade agreements with the European Union, the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) and the Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union (EUCAAA). Parallel to the negotiation of the EUCAAA, the GSP of the European Union began a flexibility process of its rules of origin that did not end until the same year that the negotiation of the trade pillar of the EU-CAAA ended. That is why the most recent treaty was negotiated on the basis of stiffer rules of origin which would mean the loss of privileges previously granted by the EU to CostaRica because of the migration from a preferential trading scheme to another.
