Описание:Introduction: Cognitive impairment in older adults often leads to wandering and falls, posing serious risks for both individuals and caregivers. Objective: To design and evaluate Android-based software for detecting wandering and falls among older adults with cognitive impairment. Methods: The prototype used smartphone sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS) to identify wandering and falls and send alerts to caregivers via a server. After researcher simulation tests, the software was installed on the smartphones of 30 older adults with cognitive impairment from care centers in three Iranian provinces to evaluate performance and usability. Results: The software achieved 77% sensitivity and 63% accuracy in fall detection and 95.8% sensitivity and 97.9% accuracy in wandering detection. Participants rated its usability 4.1/5, with positive feedback regarding performance and notifications. Conclusion: The developed Android software effectively identified falls and wandering among older adults with cognitive impairment and was well received by users. Further optimization is needed to reduce battery use and improve fall detection accuracy.
