Descripción:State institutions that give support to family farming have strategic functions for the development of this productive sector. Using a qualitative methodology based on the review of documentary sources and in-depth interviews with an extension technician and farming families, this article aims to inform the formation and development process of an associative form of family farming located in Santiago del Estero (Argentina) and built through links with the provincial delegation of the National Institute of Family, Peasant, and Indigenous Agriculture. Conclusions revolve around the idea that the associative forms not only contribute to strengthening the commercial structure of the producers, but also constitute dynamic agents for the development of the territories.
