Descripción:The results of a study that tried to define the potential of the natural wealth, and other determinants, in the formation and development of the ecotouristic cluster in Monteverde (Costa Rica) are presented: the successful economic use of the natural wealth of the place, the contribution of the capital in the development of the zone, the type and quality of the bonds between the economic agents and their impact in the competitivity and sustainability of the activities related with the cluster. It’s indicated to what extent the environmental management constitutes a strategic axis in this cluster  and,  also,  the  degree  of  articulation  and  relationship  reached  by  the  different  activities  emerged  around  the  ecotouristic  attractions  of Monteverde. Also, the strengths and weaknesses of that activity are demonstrated, identifying the roll of the public policies within the framework of the individual and/or arranged actions necessary to elevate the cohesion, competitivity and sustainability of the cluster.
