Descripción: The main objective of this study is to make public the effects of the accreditation process of the English major called Bachillerato en Enseñanza de Inglés (BEI). Our aim is to demonstrate how this process has influenced the different components of the major and how it benefits the different people who are part of it. Our leading question throughout the paper is: what have been the effects of the accreditation process in the different components that make up the English major between the years 2010 and 2014? In order to answer this query, we read progress reports carried out during this time period as well as recent information from the annual working plan called Plan Operativo. This information is divided into the following categories: course of study, academics, and students; for which the goals obtained and aspects to improve are described. By means of this written piece, we expose that accreditation and reaccreditation guarantee a high quality course of study, not only for the students, but also for the Costa Rican society.
