Descripción:The purpose of this study is to identify the training and professional updating needs of teachers at the School of Education of the Catholic University of Cibao, in the Dominican Republic, to define the ideal competencies when teaching in the hybrid modality. Currently, in relation to the training and updating of university teachers, it is seen that the country lacks plans or programs that take into account the updating of teachers to develop the skills of managing virtual environments for teaching and learning, so that they can address educational needs in virtual, distance or hybrid mode. Therefore, with an exploratory and descriptive, non-experimental method, an online questionnaire was applied to teachers of the School of Education of the Catholic University of Cibao, as part of the communication strategies within virtual education in pandemic. The results allow taking lines of action to work on strengthening an institutional plan for teacher training and improvement.
