Descripción: | This paper shows the results of a content analysis on magic and witchcraft in accordance with answers provided by the Instituto Centroamericano de Extensión de la Cultura (ICECU). The analysis was based on the answers which arouse out of an exchange of letters between the institution and its audience. Based on the theory of the Religious Field by Pierre Bourdieu, the paper shows the outlook of the institution about magic practices and beliefs, as well as how it fits within the Mesoamerican Religious Field. The main traits of the institute’s work, as an educational and cultural institution in the region, and the processes that led it to participate in the Mesoamerican religious field are also presented. |
