Descripción:This paper reports the process of design and analysis of didactic material. The design was based on qualitative design research and was supported by theoretical and methodological aspects of Didactic Analysis. Some data sources used were interviews with experts, questionnaires for teachers and students, and the Mathematics Study Programs of the Ministry of Public Education of Costa Rica. As a result, nine tasks on a linear function and eight on a quadratic function were developed and analyzed. These tasks were analyzed according to different variables, such as the systems of representation, the preferred thinking processes, the level of complexity, the difficulties and the possible mistakes that can be made in their solution. The development of teaching materials that promote mathematical skills requires an articulation between the different variables present in the tasks; particularly, it demands the presence of diverse mathematical thought processes and different levels of complexity. In addition, although the complete process of the foundations is extensive, the teachers can develop the phases separately and they can complement them in other academic courses.
