Descripción: | Procrastination is a habit that consists of postponing the execution or completion of activities, leaving aside responsibilities, decisions and deliveries (Steel, 2010). This habit can have consequences both emotionally and psychologically, more specifically in this case: psychological well-being, thus affecting the person's assessment of their life in various areas (Barrera et al, 2019). The general objective of this study is to establish whether there is a relationship between Academic Procrastination and Psychological Well-being, considering the sociodemographic variables in a sample of Chilean higher education participants. This research is of a non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational-causal type, 181 participants participated, who answered a sociodemographic data questionnaire, the Busko's (1998) Academic Procrastination Scale (EPA) adapted by Álvarez, and the Spanish adaptation of Ryff's Psychological Well-being Scale. Analyzes consisted of a Person's correlation, linear regression, and Students' t test. The results showed that there is a negative and significant correlation between academic procrastination and four dimensions of psychological well-being, and that in two of these dimensions the procrastination factor showed a significant effect in the predictive model. But while it is claimed that procrastination is one of the factors linked to psychological well-being, it’s not only one. |
